History
ED&F Man’s history dates back to 1783 as a London-based sugar trader.
The Liquid Products business unit was built through acquisitions of an Amsterdam based molasses trading company founded in 1920 and a New Orleans based molasses trading company founded in 1940.
The Feed Ingredients business was established through an acquisition of a Canadian company in 2002 which had a division trading fish oil and fish meal. This business activity was targeted for growth which initially included the opening of a trading office in Lima, Peru and establishing a European operations desk in London. The next stage of development was the conversion of a molasses terminal in Esbjerg, Denmark to a fish oil storage and distribution hub supporting feed manufacturers for the rapidly growing farmed salmon industry in Norway and the surrounding region. The business further expanded by providing logistical services to the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries requiring fish oil.
In 2016, a Mexican trading business with assets in Guadalajara and Guaymas was acquired and was subsequently expanded.
More recently in 2023, a processed animal protein facility in Gaffney, South Carolina was acquired to further expand the scope of the Feed Ingredients business.
ED&F Man Feed Ingredients is a business activity that is targeted for ongoing development and expansion.
